This allows the clay to be easily formed and moulded into wonderful unique pieces of jewellery. Once clay is fired you are left with pure silver which can be filed and sanded to produce a high shine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eWhat will you learn in the class?\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSteph will talk you through what the different types of clay are and their uses. She'll also demonstrate each process involved in working with Silver art clay. From getting started right through to moulding, shaping, drying, firing and finishing. This is a perfect class for anyone wanting to get to grips with silver art clay or those looking to further their jewellery making skills. It's a wonderful material and allows you to create fantastic textures.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo prior experience is required for our introduction to Silver Art Clay workshop; Steph is on hand throughout the whole day to answer all you questions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eWhat will you make and what is included?\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring the workshop you will be given approximately 5g of clay to create textured charms or a pendant. Approximately 5g of paste clay to create a leaf pendant. As well as 7-10g of clay to create a ring, which will be decorated with paste from a syringe or moulding clay. The shop kiln will be used to fire all the pieces created in the class. During this time Steph will also talk about alternative ways to fire your pieces at home. As well as demonstrate firing with a hand held torch.  Everything you make in the class is yours to take away with you.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRefreshments are provided throughout the workshop. As soon as we got really into everything and relaxed our time was up. One of the things I love about Embroidery is that you can use pretty much anything. In my final pieces on my Fine Art degree I stitched handmade paper into an embroidery.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI look at many throw away items and wonder about their potential for all sorts of creative things. Like many creative people I have a collection of interesting bits n bobs like packaging with a nice texture, a shiny wrapper or a lovely (but annoying) bit of ribbon from inside your clothes. I decided to incorporate some of these into an embroidery along with lots of different embroidery stitches. This example includes sweet wrappers and off cuts of ribbon as well as beads and embroidery thread. This is a great little workshop to learn a few embroidery stitches and to (re)use some more unusual items. It's also a fun way to spend a few hours experimenting and relaxing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou are welcome to bring along any interesting fibres, papers, wrappers and materials you'd like to incorporate into your designs.
